Is Your Colleague Qualified for Registry Membership?

At the Registry, we highly value the nominations and recommendations from our esteemed members. Your input is vital to ensure that only the most qualified leaders are considered for Registry Membership. We rely on your expertise to help identify the top-tier candidates who can truly make an impact in higher education leadership.

The Importance of Registry Membership:

When nominating a colleague for Registry Membership, it is important they meet the specific qualifications required for this prestigious designation. Registry Membership is reserved for seasoned, senior executive leaders in higher education who possess the experience and expertise needed to steer institutions toward excellence.

The Registry serves as the Gold Standard for connecting institutions with leaders who bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and leadership to the table. Our focus is to provide our institutional clients with highly qualified Registry Members capable of making an immediate and significant impact.

Qualifications for Registry Membership:

To be eligible for Registry Membership, a nominee must have a minimum of five years of experience in a senior executive leadership role within a higher education institution. This criterion is essential to maintain the Registry’s commitment to providing institutions with only the most qualified and seasoned executives.

Qualified Executive Leadership Positions:

To meet the Registry’s membership qualifications, a nominee must have held one of the following senior executive roles for at least five years:

  • Dean
  • Vice President
  • President/Chancellor
  • Provost

The experience gained having served at least five years in one of these roles qualifies an individual to meet the Registry’s standard of a “seasoned executive”—our promise to clients seeking top-tier leadership. Of course, years in a role are not the only criteria we consider for membership.  We also seek evidence of leadership competency that ensures our members have the ability to quickly step up to a leadership challenge and make a difference.

It is also helpful to suggest that your colleagues revise their CV to reflect a business-oriented ‘resume’ that highlights specific accomplishments in each of their administrative roles. While publications and presentations are valuable in an academic CV, they are less relevant for an interim leadership role. A clear focus on leadership impact, strategic decisions, and measurable results is crucial.

Why Does This Matter?

Nominating a colleague who meets these requirements ensures that The Registry continues to uphold its reputation as the Gold Standard in higher education leadership. By adhering to these qualifications, we guarantee that only the most experienced and capable individuals are nominated for membership. This, in turn, allows us to provide institutions with the highest level of leadership and expertise, directly contributing to their success.

Before submitting your nomination, be sure that your colleague meets the five-year experience requirement at a senior executive level. This helps maintain the integrity of the Registry and ensures that higher education institutions continue to receive the leadership they deserve.
