Deliciously Festive: Amy Miller’s Homemade New England Cranberry Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
1.) 12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries (about 3 cups)
2.) 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
3.) 1 cup water
4.) 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
5.) Zest of 1 orange (optional)
Instructions:
- Rinse the Cranberries: If using fresh cranberries, rinse them under cold water and remove any stems or damaged berries.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, and water. If using, add the ground cinnamon and orange zest.
- Cook the Mixture: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes. The cranberries will burst and the sauce will thicken.
- Cool: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool at room temperature. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Refrigerate: Transfer the sauce to a serving dish or airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve. It can be made a day or two in advance.
- Serve: Enjoy your cranberry sauce chilled or at room temperature alongside turkey, ham, or other festive dishes!
Tips:
- Adjust the sugar based on your taste preference, especially if you prefer a more tart sauce.
- Feel free to experiment by adding ingredients like chopped walnuts or diced apples for added texture and flavor!
