The Registry Attends the LGBTQ Leaders In Higher Ed Conference

For the first time, The Registry had the honor of attending the LGBTQ Leaders in Higher Education Conference: The Leadership Institute 2025, hosted at both the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) and the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee. This landmark event brought together visionary educators, administrators, and advocates committed to advancing equity and inclusion across higher education.

Representing The Registry were Senior Consultant Dr. Karen Whitney (left)  and Registry Member Dr. Charlita Shelton (right), both of whom played an active role in the conference’s dialogues and sessions. In a highlight moment of the evening, Dr. Whitney and Dr. Shelton were each presented with the Founders Award, one of the conference’s most prestigious honors.

This distinguished award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, advocacy, and impact within the LGBTQ higher education community. Their recognition not only celebrates their personal achievements but also reflects The Registry’s ongoing commitment to elevating diverse voices and fostering inclusive leadership within institutions nationwide.

The Registry is proud to have been part of this inspiring gathering and congratulates Dr. Whitney and Dr. Shelton on this well-deserved honor.
