The New MVP on Campus: Artificial Intelligence
It’s football season and that has made me think about how AI is kind of the new playmaker on campus. Just like a good quarterback changes the game, AI is starting to change the way colleges operate, teach, and support students. Here are a few ways it’s showing up:
For Registry Members
We always want to make sure we have the newest tools. AI is moving fast and reshaping higher ed. After our February training, Chris Vane (ZRG Managing Director, San Jose) has offered to talk 1:1 with members about how AI might help your clients and even you personally. He’s also putting together an AI “How-To Kit” for Registry members that should be ready in Q4. Think of it like a starter playbook.
For Administrators
AI can really cut down on repetitive work. Admissions, financial aid, scheduling, even resource planning… automation can handle a lot of that. The bigger win is predictive analytics, which can help forecast enrollment and make budget planning smarter.
For Educators
Faculty are starting to use AI for grading, feedback, and creating more personalized teaching resources. The idea is that AI handles some of the busy work so professors can spend more time on mentoring and research.
For Students
Students might see the most direct impact: personalized learning tools, tutoring systems, career path support. Even simple chatbots are giving 24/7 answers to academic or admin questions. The big shift is that learning can be more tailored to each student’s strengths and needs.
Big Picture
Overall, AI is making colleges more efficient, teaching more flexible, and learning more personalized. From labs to finance to the classroom, it’s not just on the sidelines anymore—it’s in the game.
Chris is a great resource if you want to talk about this more he can be reached at cvane@zrgpartners.com or (408)221-0901, and of course I’m happy to connect as well!
