Not for the Faint of Heart: Student Affairs Priorities for Interim Leaders                            

Session scheduled for Saturday, November 9th @ 3:00pm

Panelists will explore the complex issues that inform the experience, and challenge the leadership, of Senior Student Affairs Officers on campuses today. Among several topics, one panelist will focus on the changing climate for diversity and inclusion efforts that both students and faculty members expect the SSAO to lead. A second panelist will present best practices regarding student activism and the changing political climate toward free speech, campus protests, immigration policies, and controversial speakers. Finally, before a question and answer session engaging all speakers, the third panelist will examine the growing number of issues directly impacting student success and retention, including homelessness, mental health challenges, and inadequate academic preparation.
