Registry Senior Consultant Quoted in Chronicle of Higher Education
Registry Senior Consultant Dr. Jim Martin was recently quoted in the Chronicle of Higher Education in a piece titled “The Provost’s Path”. As the co-author of two acclaimed books on Chief Academic Officers—the most recent of which is The Provost’s Handbook (John’s Hopkins University Press, 2015)—Jim was asked to comment on the transition that some provosts make towards the presidency. “There’s the assumption that if you’re a provost, you want to be a president,” he said. “Some Provosts…May be eager to leave behind some of the academically centered aspects of their job that they find unappealing…and see becoming a college president as a welcome departure.”1
